How we use the personal details you provide to us

The source of all personal data that we hold is the information provided by you when you opt in to receive information.

Email

We use the Mailchimp email system to keep you informed of events, special offers or activities which may interest you.  This personal data is collected only where you provide your consent that you wish to be kept informed about visiting the area.

In order to do this we collect your email address, and if you wish to provide it, your name and the type of information you would like to get by email.

Who we share your data with

Where emails are submitted via a business listing page, for example a guesthouse or activity provider, all enquiries are sent to the Visit Swansea Bay team and automatically forwarded to the respective business with your consent. Other than the third party recipient of the enquiry, this data will not be passed on or sold to any other third parties.

We use a Facebook pixel on our website if you have consented to it. This helps us to optimise adverts based on collected data to show you adverts that might interest you. You can unsubscribe from this here or change your cookie preferences in your browser.

Using data gathered from visitswanseabay.com, targeted audiences for advertising may be created on third party platforms including (but not limited to) Facebook, Twitter and Google. We measure activities based on the number of actions taken and do not make any attempt to use personally identifiable data to determine the actions of individual people.

How long we keep your data

We keep your data for a maximum of 24 months or until you choose to unsubscribe from receiving our marketing material.

How and when we contact you

If you have opted in to receive emails, we will contact you at intervals to provide you with information and news about events and activities in Swansea Bay, Mumbles and Gower.

Your privacy rights

Your information is stored securely by the City and County of Swansea for the purposes described above.

We will not share your data with any third parties without your explicit consent unless we are required or permitted to do so by law, other than where you have submitted a query via a business listings page as described above.

You have the right to request that we provide you with a full copy of any personal information we hold on you, which we are obliged to provide to you within one calendar month free of charge.
