1940's Swansea Bay Museum
Hidden away just two minutes from the busy M4 is the WWII experience 1940's Swansea Bay. The indoor street scene takes you past an RAF Plotting Room and into an air raid shelter where you hear the sound of bombs falling. Walking past a bomb damaged shop you pass a wartime front parlour then into the Three Lamps pub for a 1940's sing-along on the piano!
Displays include 1940's vacuum cleaners, washing and sewing machines, prams and push chairs that survived being melted down to make Spitfires.
Wartime style clothes and uniforms are provided for youngsters to try on and don't forget your camera as photography is allowed. The gift shop sells replica Ration Books and Identity Cards and also serves teas so you can have a Spam sandwich and Camp coffee!
Open daily to the public daily from 10am to 5pm but times may vary in Winter. Guided tours from an Air Raid Warden are available for groups booking, daytime or evening. Schools and other groups can get guided tours from an Air Raid Warden and a full package of lessons and activities tailored to your needs which is also available in Welsh.
